Yerevan, Armenia – Wizz Air has announced the launch of direct flights connecting Yerevan and London, set to commence on June 12, 2026. This new route will operate twice a week, specifically on Mondays and Fridays, providing a significant boost to connectivity between Armenia and the United Kingdom.

According to a press release from the Armenian Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, tickets for these new flights are already available for purchase. Travelers can book their seats directly on the Wizz Air website (wizzair.com) or through the company’s mobile application. Fares for the Yerevan-London route will start from an accessible price of USD 48.99, making international travel more affordable for many.

Armenian Government’s Policy in Action

David Khudatyan, Armenia’s Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, expressed his strong approval of this development. “We highly value the launch of direct flights between Yerevan and London. This is an important step toward expanding connections between Armenia and the United Kingdom,” stated Minister Khudatyan. He emphasized that this initiative is a direct outcome of the Armenian government’s strategic policy aimed at fostering growth within the aviation sector.

The Minister further added, “I am confident that this new route will open up new opportunities for citizens and also boost tourism. Moving forward, we will continue to support initiatives that contribute to improving transport accessibility and expanding international cooperation.” This statement underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing international ties and facilitating travel for its citizens.

Wizz Air’s Expansion and Commitment

Anastasia Novak, Corporate and Sustainability Communications Manager at Wizz Air, highlighted the significance of this new route within the airline’s broader expansion plans. She confirmed that the Yerevan-London service is the ninth new route for Wizz Air from Armenia, part of a larger strategy to launch flights to 18 new destinations across 10 countries.

Novak reiterated Wizz Air’s dedication to its passengers: “We are very pleased to add London to our route network from Armenia. With each new expansion of our operations, we reaffirm our commitment to providing passengers with a wider selection of destinations and maximum travel comfort, while maintaining affordable fares and high flight reliability.”

Deepening Armenia-UK Relations

Varuzhan Nersesyan, the Ambassador of Armenia to the UK, underscored the diplomatic and cultural importance of the direct air link. He stated that these flights would provide a “strong boost to deepening relations between Armenia and the United Kingdom.”

Ambassador Nersesyan elaborated on the anticipated benefits: “These flights will facilitate connections among our citizens, strengthen interpersonal ties, and promote cooperation in tourism, education, culture, and business. This new route reflects the trend of deepening Armenia-UK relations and creates new opportunities for further collaboration between the two countries.” His remarks highlight the multifaceted positive impact expected from the improved connectivity.

Future Prospects for Tourism and Cooperation

The introduction of direct flights is expected to significantly enhance tourism flows in both directions, offering Armenian citizens easier access to London’s cultural and economic hubs, and conversely, making Armenia a more accessible destination for British tourists. This strategic move by Wizz Air, supported by the Armenian government, is poised to strengthen economic, cultural, and social ties between the two nations.

The Armenian Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure continues to work towards developing the country’s aviation infrastructure and fostering international partnerships, with this new Wizz Air route serving as a prime example of their ongoing efforts.
